Fall season is upon us

Trivia: What country is the top coffee producer in Latin America, responsible for a third of all coffee production in the region? (Answer at bottom)

Hola from Abogados Café,

We are so thankful for a successful first few months being open and for everyone who has been supporting us in person and online! We are loving getting to know you and sharing our Latin American culture with this community.

Summer was a busy time for us! Is anyone else ready for sweater weather, apple picking, and everything pumpkin? Further below is a look back at what we were up to in July-August and what we have planned for the upcoming month or so.

- Ofelia Ponce & Inti Martínez-Alemán

Breaking news for Autumn

Fall is a BIG season for any coffee business. (Any #PSL fans??) We have been working behind the scenes to curate this special menu for all you Fall fans.

Looking back…

Keep Calm and Caffeinate!

The legendary Sarah Shomion from former St. Paul Hot Yoga taught a hot yoga class on our patio in July.

Then, we partnered with Yoga Para La Gente to host outdoor vinyasa! Diane Hedberg led a Vinyasa Flow in Spanish, followed by Abogados coffee for each participant.

Inti officiated a wedding at Abogados Café!

Congratulations Alan & Melanie! We were honored to be a part of your special day.

In Latin America, in order to officiate a wedding, you need more than a certificate from the internet. You have to become an official notary public which includes secondary schooling, passing a test with the supreme court, and be a licensed attorney. This type of formal ceremony is important to many Hispanic couples in Minnesota. And since Inti is an attorney and notary public in Minnesota, he has recently been asked to officiate weddings for Hispanic couples. He’s agreed to do so gratis–but only after getting his clergy/officiant license online!

Affogato Love ♥️

This summer we had two specials where we partnered with Conny's Creamy Cone to offer Affogato! Affogato is a sweet treat of espresso poured over vanilla ice cream. Although it’s Italian and not a Latin American tradition like most of our products, we made an exception since it’s so delicious AND for the chance to collaborate with our renowned neighbor, Conny’s Creamy Cone. We look forward to hosting more events like this next summer!

Looking forward…

¡Día de la Independencia!

September 15 is a special day in Latin America. It’s the anniversary of independence for Latin American countries Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua. It also marks the start of Latin American Heritage Month which goes from September 15th through October 15th. Many other countries celebrate their independence in or around this timeframe.

Mark your calendars:

Sept 24, 2022 - We will be at Marydale Arts Festival! It’s just right down the street from Abogados Café. We are thrilled to connect with our neighbors.

Come visit us and enjoy art, music, food, and fun for kids and grownups.

In the news…

Learn Spanish!

¿Me das un café, por favor? - Can I have a coffee, please?

Trivia Answer: Brazil

Because of mostly low-growing altitudes, Brazilian coffee can be nutty, sweet, low in acidity, with sweet or bittersweet and chocolate notes. Colombia is the 2nd largest coffee producer in the region.
